When talking about Hurghada and Sahl Hasheesh, both resorts have their own sides. When Hurghada is a vivid noisy city that never sleeps, Sahl Hasheesh is a quiet and slow resort town.

If you enjoy the silence and want to relax properly Sahl Hasheesh should be your next holiday destination in Egypt.

If you prefer to stay a more lively environment with bars, nightclubs and shopping opportunities choose Hurghada and visit Sahl Hasheesh. And otherwise, if you are staying in Sahl Hasheesh, visit Hurghada.

Things to do and places to see in Sahl Hasheesh

Sahl Hasheesh has the best beaches in the Red Sea Riviera. Many people living in Hurghada visit Sahl Hasheesh, because of its amazing beaches. A day at the beach is not free of charge; At the moment it costs about 300 Egyptian pounds to enter the beaches of Sahl Hasheesh. Sailor’s Beach Club is one of the most popular beach clubs in Sahl Hasheesh.

Sahl Hasheesh has a lot to offer for the ones interested in scuba diving and other water-related activities.

World-famous scuba-diving sports clubs and diving centres are located in Sahl Hasheesh.

There are also very good beachfront snorkelling spots, which are usually harder to find. In the picture below you see the Sunken City, which is an excellent area for snorkelling.

Sunken City is an artificial site made for snorkelling. It has been built to remind the old pharaonic city ruins. The city ruins attract both fishes and corals. There are lots to see under the water. You can even see the sunken city up from the pier (picture above).

In Sahl Hasheesh you can take a stroll along 14 kilometres (8 miles) long beachfront promenade. If you want to do something more special, rent a golf cart and drive along the promenade! Renting the golf carts is a quite expensive thing to do, but for sure it’s also fun!

Old town | Unique architecture

The Old town is called the old town, but actually it’s not old. The Old town has its beautiful unique architecture, which you can’t see anywhere else. Most of the restaurants, bars & shops are located in the Old Town of Sahl Hasheesh.

One of the most beautiful places in Sahl Hasheesh is definitely Arrival Piazza. The piazza is located in the Old Town in Sahl Hasheesh and looks amazing. Especially, in the evenings, when it is lit. It’s one of the most photographed places in Sahl Hasheesh Egypt.

Shopping in Sahl Hasheesh

Sahl Hasheesh is an area with poor shopping facilities. If you want to shop properly, you must leave Sahl Hasheesh. The closest place where to shop is Senzo mall, which is only five kilometres away from Sahl Hasheesh.

SENZO MALL is one of the biggest shopping centres in Hurghada’s surroundings. From the mall, you’ll find shops with fixed prices and Spinneys which is the biggest supermarket in Hurghada.

Nightlife and bars in Sahl Hasheesh

Sahl Hasheesh is not famous for its nightlife. If you are looking for an active nightlife then it is better to head to Hurghada or El Gouna.

Most of the Sahl Hasheesh restaurants are located inside the hotels. For example, both Mexican & Italian restaurant in Sahl Hasheesh are located in Tropitel hotel.

GOLDEN BOODA | BUS STOP

The nightlife in Sahl Hasheesh is concentrated on hotels. A popular nightclub in Sahl Hasheesh is Golden Booda, which is located inside Albatros citadel hotel, more info Golden Booda.

Luckily, there is also a bar called Bus stop that offers live music and entertainment for tourists and residents living in Sahl Hasheesh. The bus stop is located in the old town.

If you stay in Sahl Hasheesh you can always order a private car (taxi), uber or careem to drive you to Hurghada and back. Hurghada Marina is an excellent choice for an evening stroll and dinner.

Weather and temperatures in Sahl Hasheesh

Weather in Sahl Hasheesh is very similar to Hurghada weather. Summers are extremely hot (+40) and winters are warm. Raining is rare and the weather is never seriously cold.

The coldest time of the year is winter. From the beginning of December until the end of February, the daily temperature is around 20-25 celsius degrees. In the evenings temperatures may drop as low as 12 Celsius degrees, so it’s better to pack a light jacket and warm cardigan when travelling during the winter season. 

The best months to travel Sahl Hasheesh are October-November and March-April.

It’s always a little bit windy in Hurghada and Sahl Hasheesh. The wind makes it a little bit easier to handle the heat in the summer. If you’re travelling to Egypt during the summer, don’t forget to hydrate and add sun lotion regularly.  It’s hot there!
